We have years of experience in designing and creating interior and exterior spaces; from kitchens to wine bars, and Eco pods to one-off pieces of furniture. Our range of backgrounds, skills and approaches compliment each other well, ensuring your project is better than you could have imagined and our enthusiasm never falters.

We share a love of the sea whilst living and working by the coast. Most importantly for you, we genuinely enjoy working together, creating your “forever features”.

I have been running my own business designing and making furniture here in North Cornwall for over a decade. I have worked on many exciting projects ranging from kitchens, unique one-off pieces for private clients, and museum seating. For example, looking through my personal portfolio, you will be scrolling through the benches I designed and created for the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.

The best part about what I do is working with clients. Working together to help make something special to them. Every project presents new challenges which need new solutions; I find I’m forever thinking on my toes, coming up with new ideas and learning new skills along the way.

When not creating noise and dust in the workshop, my young family and I spend our time enjoying North Cornwall’s beautiful beaches and walking in its stunning scenery.

I first started working with wood in my Grandad’s workshop when I was 8 years old, from that point I knew I wanted to create things for a living. I went on to create my first large scale project, designing and manufacturing the Eco Hubb; a modular, fully sustainable, living pod. I cemented my passion for design and decided to undertake an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker. Upon completion, I set up Max Marshall Design, refining my skills in furniture design and making.

I’m a Cornish man at heart, so being able to surf in the morning then create something special in the workshop everyday is a dream come true.

My dream project would be to buy a plot of land in a woodland right next to a surf spot. I would build my home and workshop from the surrounding forest, working, living and surfing there everyday.

After over twenty five years of working on building sites I decided to give myself twelve months to follow my passion for woodwork and see where it would lead me. I walked into MOR Studios and haven’t looked back. Working with Christian and Max, who between them have vast knowledge and skill of making and designing. It’s a fantastic and inspiring place to work.

Our aim is to work with you to get what you want. We are always happy to talk about your projects so drop us a line.
